Yacht Spray Painting

The cosmetical WOW fator for neglected yachts.

Otherwise get a proposal from a company that turns out reputable work. If the boat has a fly bridge or wheelhouse, make sure it's included in the price, because these areas add substantially to the cost. Also remember, quotes usually contain also a lot of clauses, and for a good reason. Make sure you understand everything.

The following shall serve as a good example. If you encounter a yacht in a condition like this you better take a walk. As it is, a properly executed paint job takes 90% preparation before top coating, and this just for a normally faded paint or gel-coat, where no surface rebuilding has to be done.

The following images with annotations at times shall hopefully give you an idea of what to avoid.

When the gel-coat is faded, or the paint looks dull, re-coating your vessel not only will make her look new, but will most importantly protect your vessel as well.

The following serves no other purpose, other than hopefully prevent a costly mistake for someone contemplating to purchase a vessel that needs a bit more than spray painting.

From the onset, badly neglected paint work most of the time points to a neglected boat. A boat like that can turn into a major project, and suck money and time like a jet engine fuel and air. If on the other hand you get the boat for a song, and you can perform all work yourself, that's another story.
